Phoenix Forge
A downloadable game for Windows
Made for the "Roles Reversed" GMTK Game Jam 2023.
Phoenix Forge is a short, inverted metroidvania: rather than acquiring abilities to access new areas, your starting abilities are spent like keys to open the way forward.
Small update: there's a big with how I set up level transitions that causes them to crash the game *sometimes*, but I can't fix it because of the jam rules. So if you drop into the end of a level (or the final room of the game) you might have to start over.

I like the idea, but the game crashed when I jumped down into the red area, which was a pain. The art style is very cool though!
Ah yeah the level loading has an oversight I didn't catch before I uploaded & seems to crash like 1/4 of the time. Sorry about that!
